Closing Our Doors

To our friends and neighbors,

After 5 wonderful years, Washington St. Bistro has closed its doors.

It has been an incredible journey, and we couldn’t have made it this far without you, our valued patrons. We have been so honored to give you a place to visit after a long day or week, relax, and eat; to give you a place to call home right in the center of Morristown.

A convergence of events has led us to this decision, and it was one that was very difficult to make. Doors close, windows open. Our time at the bistro will always be treasured in our hearts, and we are grateful to have made so many friendships. We hope to see you again soon in some shape or form.

Wishing you all the very best,
Ray & the Washington St. Bistro staff

Winter Menus Now Out!

washingtonmorristown
George Washington – 1777 Winter Encampment at Jockey Hollow, at Morristown, N.J.

In the winter of 1777, after Continental victories at Trenton and Princeton, General George Washington headed to the perfect place for an encampment, and for his military headquarters: Morristown, NJ. Strategically, it was the ideal place to stay, and stay they did—Morristown remained a crucial city during the Revolutionary War, and housed hundreds of soldiers during the colder months of the year. Morristown has always been special, but it may be slightly more unique during the winter, when people can curl up in front of a fire and enjoy the city’s history and community.

Like Washington’s troops who arrived in our city just in time for the winter season, our new menus have arrived as well! Be sure to come in for delicious dishes, some old, and some new. Recent additions include our flavorful Orecchiette with Chicken Sausage, as well as our own signature Bistro Chowder. We’ve brought back some seasonal favorites as well! Back on our menu are the Honey Roasted Acorn Squash and the Cauliflower Leek Gratin. Also, after your meal we offer Mulled Apple Cider, which is sure to warm you up on a chilly evening—the perfect ending to your day.

Below are links to view our lunch and dinner menus. At the top of both pages are downloadable and printable pdf versions of both.

We look forward to seeing you soon for a wonderful dinner!

The Spring Menu has Sprung!

Hello all! As the cold weather finally goes away, we’re happy to announce that the 2015 Spring Menu is available at Washington St. Bistro. Still full of favorites, the Spring Menu has a few new dishes that are light, fresh, and filling:

  • Tarragon Chicken Fricassée, with Goffle Farms French Chicken, roasted carrots, and tarragon cream
  • Pan Roasted Salmon, with sorrel cream and fingerling potatoes
  • Penne with Asparagus Pesto, with mint, parsley, tarragon, and pine nuts, tossed with asparagus, cream, and finally topped with parmesan cheese

The three dishes are succulent, flavorful, light (but also filling!), and delicious. We have also added grilled asparagus with lemon oil drizzle as a side dish.

You can view our menu through our website here, and can download the menu here.

We look forward to seeing you for dinner soon! Happy spring!

New Menu added for Winter, 2014

Wasington St. BistroWe’re presenting a new menu for Winter 2014 at the Washington St. Bistro, adding a few select dishes which we thought would be sure to please during these cold months.  We have a new variety of colonial-inspired faire fresh for the new year, and we hope we have something to offer for everyone to enjoy.  In particular we’d like to point out the many new Gluten-Free options we offer!

Perhaps the cold weather has put you in the mood for some comfort food, like our Baked Meatloaf or Bouillabaisse entrees.  Or maybe you’d prefer a more refined culinary creation, such as the Orecchiette with Duck Confit and truffle scented duck jus or the Pan Seared Duck Breast in chestnut and cranberry pan sauce with celery root puree.  Either way, we hope you’ll decide to stop in and try the new tastes waiting on our new Winter Menu for 2014.

The Washington St. Bistro is a BYOB establishment located on Washington Street just across from the new courtyard park near the Court House.  You can reserve a table right now (that link opens our schedule at the Open Table Reservation Service), or give us a call at (973) 267-7425.
